From April 2017, the CAPS unique data exchange service will be provided free of charge to UK bodyshops.
This move forms a key element of CAPS’ commitment to creating an open data exchange standard for the UK automotive repair sector that is secure, transparent and consistent. CAPS leads the way in security and convenience for the industry, as it is the only data pipeline that encrypts all the data it transfers and that does not store data transferred by the system.
Kevern Thompson, CAPS commercial manager, comments: “Work providers such as insurance companies and claims management businesses are keen to use CAPS as the standard for sharing information with their suppliers.
“By making CAPS free of charge to bodyshops and vehicle repairers, we’re enabling repairers to work with a larger number of insurers as well as providing them with a platform that has been shown to reduce cost and administrative hassle during repairs. We see this is a vital part of helping to move the claims industry forward, with more repairers now able to employ a highly-efficient data transfer system.
“The platform connects to all third party and body shop management systems without barriers and ensures a highly secure and totally transparent data exchange by digitally connecting all parties involved in the claims process.
“We’re continuing to invest in CAPS to add functionality and ensure it is the first choice conduit for vehicle repair data. Fast, secure and real-time connectivity helps to make bodyshops more efficient, improves their service to their business partners and creates a better motor claims experience for drivers and consumers.”
Mark Garnham, networks & engineering manager at claims administration company Gallagher Bassett, notes: “CAPS is already saving us time and money, as we’ve seen the number of vehicle repair-related phone calls we’ve had to make drop significantly. CAPS offers secure and efficient data exchange in a way that’s unique to the industry.”
CAPS connects to all major body shop management systems and more than 500 repairers currently benefit from the efficiencies that it provides. It also helps fuel the industry’s leading claim application systems including Performance Gateway, Repex and ActiveWeb.
CAPS can significantly reduce the volume of phone calls to and from bodyshops relating to an open claim and helps work providers improve their operational efficiencies, gain access to data analytics, improve the customer journey and enable digital self-service strategies.
